BARBADOS

Barbados is one of the most favourite Caribbean islands that people like to visit. It is most famous for Rihanna, its National Dish Cou Cou and Flying Fish. All three are among the significant things the island of Barbados is most known for, but there are many others, like the fact that the island is considered the birthplace of rum, and was one known as “Los Barbados.”

What would the Caribbean be without its gorgeous beaches? Mesmerizing, and pure paradise! The island is known for having some of the most diverse beaches in the Caribbean, where you can relax and lounge at your leisure, snorkel with turtles, or take in some water sports action. Try beaches on the west and south coasts for calm conditions, and beaches on the east coast if you fancy riding some waves.

SOME OF THE INCREDIBLE EXPERIENCES
YOU'LL REMEMBER FOREVER

WEDDING, HONEYMOON AND VOW RENEWALS

One of the most popular areas to enjoy your big day is The west coast of Barbados. This is often known as the 'Gold Coast' which is not surprising when there are miles of beautiful golden sandy beaches. You would be able to find tropical landscapes complete with sandy coves, calm turquoise waters and excellent water sports. The West Coast is home to some of the most luxurious hotels in the Caribbean and offers a very romantic setting for your wedding, honeymoon or vow renewals.

CLIMATE

The climate of Barbados is generally pleasant. The temperature does not usually rise above the mid-80s F (about 30°C) or fall below the low 70s F (about 22°C). There are two seasons: the dry season, from early December to May and the wet season, which lasts for the rest of the year.

SHOPPING

Shopping in Barbados is a unique experience with Bridgetown being the most popular. This is probably due to having at least 4 malls that have duty free shopping, which is usually labelled on the store front (DF) or (LP) for local price. Then head off to market on Saturday mornings, as early as possible. Some people think this traditional, authentic shopping experience is the best one, and with markets and hucksters all over it's easy to find fresh local produce. Plus mingling with the locals in the public markets is a great way to experience Barbados!

CUISINES

Bajans (as the locals like to call themselves) pride themselves with having the most famous rum of the island and is also well known internationally. Sugar cane is also a staple in the diet of Bajans and conversations in Barbados often lead in roundabout way to Crop Over, which is tied to the festival’s origins.  And if you like spices don't forget to visit the markets and pick up some seasoning to bring home to add to your meals...

THE BIGGEST STREET PARTY IN BARBADOS

Crop Over is an epic Caribbean carnival celebration, where its beginnings have something to do with the last sugar cane harvest of the season. This dates to the colonial-era, but today it is Barbados’ biggest party, with lots of celebrities flying to the island to be part of the event.

Activities for Crop Over start as early as June and continues until the first Monday in August. The explosive finale of the Crop Over event is known as The Grand Kadooment (Kadooment Day). In addition to, day and night parties, around this time you’ll find craft markets underway, a children’s parade and more. Even if you don’t put on a costume, to jump with a Crop Over band, through the streets of Bridgetown, on Kadooment Day, you’ll be in for an action-packed vacation if you travel to Barbados during this time.
